who’s gonna take YOUR pictures. 

the favorite question to ask a photographer who is getting married, having a baby…anything that may mean photos are on the way.

documenting the the pregnancy with official photos…during the beginning, i was kinda #meh about it. but then as time went on and I grew closer to my little lady inside and the thought of being able to look back with her and show her when she was inside me….I knew i wanted to have photos taken. I wish i could see a photo of MY mom pregnant with me. now being pregnant, its made me want to hear what it was like when my mom was pregnant, her birth story….a photo of it. because times have changed and we have one million ways to document everything, there’s just more of everything but I know that journaling while I’ve been pregnant, this blog…these photos, those will all be so special to show her later on and look back on when im older and have years and years of memories with her. #hindsight

im super not into flowery and heart explosions (surprise surprise?) so the thought of maternity photos didnt really put me into power mode. i didnt want to run thru the fields or a beach or really have CJ in many of them. (sorry boo, i know your sperm got us here). I wanted them to be classic, timeless and simple.

who’ya’gonna’call? Phil Chester. 

Phil photographed us ages ago when we first met and we really just loved our interactions with him pllllus he’s hella talented and a friend and the best and has gotten so damn good over the years, it was our perfect opportunity to work with him again. phil arranged a studio for us and i couldnt be happier how they turned out. exactly in my head like i wanted.

// Black robe is from Asos (got it for my wedding, so its not new)

// Lip is Anastasia in Serafine

// I put my hair up in placement curls, let them cool & set, took em out and brushed them for natural random curls with volume at the roots…because contrary to what they tell you…not all women receive a luscious new head of hair while pregnant. i was really looking forward to that.
